O.L. Luther Units
The O.L. Luther Unit is a medium security state prison for men located near Navasota, Grimes County, Texas, owned and operated by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. This facility was opened in July 1982, and has a maximum capacity of approximately 1500 inmates.
Luther is co-located with the state's Wallace Pack Unit, with its own population of about 1500 prisoners. Prisoners of both facilities cooperate in an extensive agricultural operation on 11,000 acres, including horses, a cow/calf operation, grain processing and storage, and a buffalo ranch.
The Wallace Pack Unit is a medium-security prison for male inmates that is operated by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and opened in 1983. This facility is located near Navasota, Texas, and can house a maximum of approximately 1500 male inmates. The Pack unit is houses a large number of inmates with medical issues.
