Progress Update

Aug. 3, 2026:  Geotechnical evaluation and site survey of the Pack unit chapel location is complete.  The BIW Board and Architect will soon begin the process of selection of a Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR).  The CMAR will aid in developing the construction drawings and feasible ways to reduce and control costs.  The CMAR will guarantee the price quote for construction.  The Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) will review drawings for their approval.  With their approval of drawings, construction can begin.  However, prior to beginning of construction, all required funds must be available.  As of today, approximately $770,000 is needed for the Pack Unit.  Next Board meeting will be August 24th.  Fund-raising activities continue with an expected completion of the Pack chapel by 2027 assuming that we have all funds needed by 2026.
