Progress Update

Sept. 4, 2026:  Today, a meeting was held between the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ), our Architect (GLS), the BIW Board, and the Warden of the Pack unit to discuss remaining issues needed for completion of chapel design drawings.  Once completed, these drawings will be submitted to TDCJ for final approval prior to start of construction.  The BIW Board and Architect will soon begin the process of selection of a Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR).  The CMAR will aid in developing the construction drawings and feasible ways to reduce and control costs.  The CMAR will guarantee the price quote for construction.  However, prior to beginning of construction, all required funds must be available.  As of today, approximately $250,000 is needed for completion of the Pack Unit.  Next Board meeting will be Sept. 21st.  Fund-raising activities continue with an expected completion of the build out of the Pack chapel by end of 2027 assuming that we have all funds needed by 2026.
